Sugar/Iodine ratios
Maggie, Cindy,
Since I started this thread, I'll tell you what I did. This is not
scientific, not even sure it will work (the bandage doesn't come off till
tonight or tomorrow). Anyway, I put my little rubber gloves on (I have
small hands :) ), put a small mound of sugar on my palm, poured some
iodine over it, mixed it around, dumped most of the bottle of iodine on the
ground (this part is optional), put more sugar, more iodine, patted the
mixture together like a small bread roll and slapped it onto his cut and
quickly wrapped the piece of vetrap that I had waiting around his ankle.
I'm planning on mixing some up and putting into an airtight container for
use next time so I don't have to mix it up while crouched next to Pache's
back leg in the middle of our pasture! :) I got the impression from Jason
that it didn't really matter what the ratio was, as long as it made a
decent pack and held the sugar together somewhat. I, too, would be
interested if anybody else has a more scientific approach than mine!!! :)
