Hi, Campers, I was putting up five pounds of fresh asparagus yesterday..(yum.......) Part of that entails trimming the woody ends of the asparagus spears. I thought, hmmm, I wonder is the boys would like these.. So my two rat study came out like this: Jordan sniffed, took a polite bite, immediately dropped it with that "what's THIS #*$#?????" and sulked. No more asparagus for him! Smoke.......took a bite, crunched it with a tossing head, and begged for more. I fed him three and he was looking in my pockets. My barnlord went berserk when I told him about it. He said asparagus has sulfur compounds that will kill a horse. Smoke is fine, but I'm wondering, was my barnlord right?? Three spears didn't hurt Smoke, but I'm wondering anyway. After all, fresh asparagus certainly does put a , shall we say, noticeable odor in the urine.......is asparagus harmful to horses?? Michelle and Jordan (I don't care if it IS green, I ain't eating it.) and Smoke (hey, it looks like a carrot. I'll eat it) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
