Lotyf 0018560
I was reading through some old Endurance News and came across an article that
Lewis HollanderJr., written in the July 1998 issue about a horse named Miss
Fit. He said the sire of Miss Fitt was a stud named Lotyf. I recognized the
stud as the sire to a 14 yr. old mare (Lotyfa 0341924) that I have which I
have been thinking about breeding. She is the calmest Arab I have ever been
around and also is very big boned. I got her about 5 years ago in Ohio from a
lady who owned Lotyf. The problem with the mare is that she has fused rear
hocks and a very cold back and I was told not to do endurance with her. The
vet said it probably was caused by rapid growth. I did take her to a
chiropractor and she was much better afterwards. My question is....is the
bloodline good and do you think the hock problem may be genetic. I don't want
to breed just to have another horse. I would like to continue a good
bloodline and breeding program but really want to make sure I don't continue a
possible genetic problem. Thanks.
Phil
