Crupper
I have found another use for a crupper. The sport saddle caused hair
rub, loss over the loins of my arab, since I have been using a crupper
this has stopped. I watched a friend ride down hill it front of me also
using a sport saddle. It really slides from side to side on the horse
which I think causes the rubs. Maybe the crupper helps to keep the
saddle from sliding so much, I also use a breast plate and no more hair
rubbing and no sore back.
I have to agree with Angie, and Nancy, living and competing in the hot
and humid NE I give more lytes than Susan recomended, and as Nancy says
it it ain't broke don't fix it. On a 50 I give 2 oz. the night before,
and in the am.[ my horse will eat it in his feed.] Then 2 oz. just
before coming into a vet check where there is some water available. This
way they seem to eat and drink better at the vet check if I am not
fussing with a syringe. And I also am sponge crazy, as much water on
the outside of the horse as I can get, unless its cold of course. And
on cooler days I just decrease the 2 oz to 1 or 1 1/2 oz depending on
the heat and humidity. works for me Louise
