Re: RC: Re: NEW: Farrier thread/question
I actually have two farriers (a primary and a secondary). They know
each other and since I helped both get started shoing professionally,
they don't pester me to get rid of the other.
Anyway, both guarantee their shoeing for four weeks. IOW, if a shoe
comes off within four weeks of the initial shoeing... they replace the
shoe at no charge. Now, both have full-time jobs in addition to
shoeing, so I have to be somewhat flexible about when they can come
out. But, my primary shoer lives only two blocks away and that makes
life fairly easy.
One problem I did have (not with the shoer)..... my leased gelding
overstepped at the trot and it took a while to figure out how to shoe
him so they would stay on. I gladly paid my farrier for his time in
getting things figured out and did not expect him to come out every
three days and reset a shoe or two for free. However, he didn't charge
me for every trip either. IOW... we worked it out so we were both
happy. Under normal circumstances, shoes that come off within a
four-week period should be replaced at minimal or no charge.
