By very definition 25 miles does not an endurance ride make. I could pull my
22 year old paint horse out of pasture and probably finish a 25 miler, not so
for a 50 or god forbid a 100. No problemo if you want to ride 25 milers -- go
for it, however, we are bastardizing the sport by saying that a 25 mile ride
is an endurance ride. They're not. They are training rides to get in shape
mentally and physically for the big time. If you don't want to go the
distance, don't, but you're not enduring anything in a 25 mile ride.
Sorrrrrrry, but you're not. It's kind of like saying you want to be a three-
day eventer but you only want to do one day of the thing. What's next? 12
mile "endurance" rides, 6, etc. Next it will be Angie's Itty Bitty Race of
Champions (IBROC) round and round a quarter mile track. If you only want to
do 25's there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, enjoy the ride and have a
great time and be proud that you're out there riding your horse when the
majority sit in their stalls. Also, I think a lot of people are getting tired
of this subject. I think we'll probably have to agree to disagree on this
one. No hard feelings.
