Before this gets totally out of hand, can we please all just agree that we all ride endurance events of whatever distance for our own reasons? I believe the topic at hand was why aren't some LD riders awarded "placings" and as Joe and others have said, it's an honest and reasonable effort by AERC to protect possibly unfit or inexperienced horses/riders from injuring their horses through overenthusiasm. It's certainly not an evil plot by anyone to crush LD riders and their aspirations underfoot. The policy was enacted not because there is any greater percentage of abusive riders in LD, but because there are fewer chances for the ride vets to catch a horse in trouble over a relatively short course. May we now please return this to a positive discussion?
