RE: Peanut hay confusion
I know I asked some questions awhile back about Peanut hay and got some
great responses from Susan and Duncan (thanks again). I receive the digest
version of RC, so I can't easily replicate your words, so please forgive me
.....but I am confused. I remember that the protein content
is higher than Timothy, but not as high as Alfalfa, but I don't remember
hearing that the Ca/Ph ratio is inverted. I have been feeding Peanut
hay in the am with Timothy , then timothy in pm and pangola during the day (no
pasture here in So. Fla) My Morgan mare is so easy to keep that she is
becoming difficult as she gets fat on air. She only gets 2 cups of oats a day
to mix her minerals in.(can't do free choice...she ruins
containers) Anyway I thought the calcium was higher than the phosphorus so I
was hoping in some way to create some kind of balance with the timothy. I
thought something was said that endurance horses shouldn't be on straight
Peanut hay because of the high calcium.
Rut Ro! I am confused
Kathy and Moriah ( Please tell her the Peanut hay is good 'cause I LOVE IT!)
