Old Selam

Hi Tracy:

It was a very nice ride.  The trails were great and very well marked.   It
rained Friday, but
stopped when I got there at about 4pm.  Then it rained from about 8pm to
midnight.  We only had a few showers during the day on Saturday.  Temps were
about ideal, and the rain made the footing excellent.  My horse, Simon, was
very
well-behaved and set a comfortable pace through the entire ride.

There were 23 starters on the 50.  Christophe Schork won,  Nance Cooper was
second and won BC and high vet score.  A guy named Bret (from Twin Falls on
a blind bay horse) was
3rd.  Sonny and Marilyn Hornbaker were 4th and 5th.  I was sixth.  Ellen
Osinski was 7th. Regina 8th, Chuck Boisvert 9th, and Barb McGahan 10th.
Also finishing
were Karen and Andi Paulo, Sarah Metcalf and a friend, Laura Vaughn, Mary
Forrester, and Valynn Mathie.   I can't remember all the others.  There were
3 pulls:  Liz Scott after loop 1, Dot Wiggins after loop 2, and Virginia
Ware after the finish.  All pulls were lamenesses associated with missteps
or
falls.

I really don't know much about the 30 miler except there were several
starters and I think a 100% completion rate.
