picket lines

I'm interested in trying picketing instead of a pen  - after
watching horses at a ride, I think those on picket lines
actually move more than those in a pen.

Any comments, hints, rules I should know about? Any
particular equipment except an abundance of rope and a ring
or carabener (sp) so the horse can move up and down the
picket?
