Anyone can ride in the pioneer category--it's what you do, not who you are.
What you do is ride multi-day rides. In order to qualify for pioneer award
credit, you have to finish the entire multiday on the same horse. You still
get "regular" credit for each individual day if you do less than that, but the
pioneer award recognizes those who do multi-days most and best. Someone
correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a 3-day minimum for a ride to qualify
as a multiday for purposes of this award?
