Horse Muzzles
Hello Anita,
I have been using a horse muzzle for the past 5 weeks now for my horse due
to stitches on his nose and rubbing. I purchased it at a tack shop in
Wickenburg, AZ named Double D Western Store. I believe they will ship and
it cost me approx. $26 with tax. They're phone number is 520-684-7987. It
hooks onto a halter with straps and buckles on two sides. I have had to do
minor adjustments to keep it over my horse's wound but it it works pretty
good. It's very strong plastic and has a lot of air vents on the sides and
has 3 bars on the bottom so they can drink water but they cannot eat with it
on. I cut out one of the bars so my horse could drink better and he can eat
pellets with it on though I do take it off for him to eat. They also have a
wire model but for my purposes the plastic worked better. If you call ask
for the horse tack area.

A friend of mine has a very nice young horse who recently developed a bad
case of COPD. she spent a week or so at the vet school at Univ. of FL
being treated, came home w/ an inhaler and all kinds of stuff.
She is looking for a wire muzzle or something she can fasten over her nose
and put cheese cloth or gauze or something over to filter out dust/pollin
etc. when she is turned out.
She said Libertyville Saddle Shop catalog had something that might work
only it is discontinued.
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
thanks.
