Show vs Endurance

We have in the neighborhood of 20,000 miles of endurance riding in our
family, and most of the horses we have used over the years have been show
bred, show used, and by/out of national champions. Carol Dee competes on
a Muscofir son (Canadian RNC Halter & successful race horse), my youngest
son rides an *El Moraduke daughter (regional and national AERC champion
for both my sons), my daughter rides a Barbary daughter, and I am
currently riding a *Pesniar daughter. We have had very good fortunes
with "show" horses which we used for endurance. None of these horses
are/were culls and all could be successful at other venues. Until a few
years ago we owned a former nationally known stallion, Sir Musk (*Muscat
son) and he produced a number of super prospects -some we sold at fair &
profitable prices- and a couple that we will be competing on when they
are older. I know there are breeders producing pretty without a concern
for function, but I think many are trying to produce both in the same
package and I would just as soon ride a pretty & functional horse. There
are a lot of them out there at reasonable prices...you just need to shop.

Just another side of the issue.
