sounds diminished - ended up pulling at 25, as he wasn't looking very
happy & not enough gut sounds. This was the first and only time he ever
had this or any metabolic problem. Since then, I've not put him back on
Strongid-C. One vet told me the problem was lkiely that I cut him off

Patty, you would have to talk to the veterinary committee about the legality
of competing on Strongid C, although my impression was that it is not absorbed
hence does not test.
As to your situation after stopping it abruptly, I think it likely changes the
gut flora, so that stopping it right before a ride would be very similar to
making a major feed change right before a ride.
