In the long run?
Hmmm, I thought I'd be sick of this weight issue by now, and keep just
erasing everything labeled ...."Weight....", but somehow
analogies/metaphors/cartoon pictures started hitting me - different
perspectives on the overworked subject can help me understand things
better. Beware, though, I am doing some free-form mind surfing, whatever
on this subject. And really beware - I am/was an artist! (you know how
THEY think!) And I am not a competitor like ALL of you, right? Just an
overstimulated reader/observer of day-to-day equine "obsessions".
I started thinking . . . gee, if you are carrying a few bags of
groceries out of the store and have to run to the car (or walk, or trot,
or pace), it's a little more stressful than if you are NOT carrying the
bags, right? even if you are fit, right? Something's going to stress
out somewhere, right? And then, in the horse world at tracks, the guys
"exercising" the TBs are much bigger than jockeys, they are all different
sizes, actually, right???? ( like carrying those bags in training).
But, when the race comes (I know, I know, it's an itty-bitty short ride,
not exactly an endurancecompetitive ride) by God, get them little folks
on board! If you don't consider the weight factor, (i.e., put the heavy
exerciser on at the starting gate), it may be the heavy straw that
breaks the horsie's back. I guess I am thinking that, if all other (and
that's a lot of all others) variables are equal, THEN weight makes a
difference. The moral of the story? I guess if you eat enough candy
bars purchased at the check-out line, then have to carry those heavy bags
to the escape vehicle, you'll get there a bit faster than if you didn't
pig out on those sweets, but man could you go faster without the purse
(oops guys!), groceries, right shoes, correct muscles, right attitude
(and of course if you throw a few of the candies in your mouth). And
then there's the vet check in the parking lot with the horse vets
(horse's that are vets) clocking your heaving belly, measuring your
cannon bones, resetting your shoes, .... okay it's true folks, I am
speeding on coffee - so maybe that's all the horses need to win -- lots
of coffee (in the short, medium or long run?) I know, lots of this may
not have made sense, so ..... Sorry, this may be a "lame" (pun intended)
attempt at getting a humorous look at this heavy subject!
