bruises from Easy-Boots
Has anyone had a horse that wears Easy-Boots over bare feet develop bruises
in the hoof wall, on the bearing surface, right at the heel?
I found 4 very red spots at the heels of my horses back feet to-day when I
trimmed him. The front feet were fine. I trim every 2 ro 3 weeks and
there was nothing remarkable last trim. I have had this horse 3 months,
and he started wearing Easy-Boots then. I don't do them up very tightly,
and he hasen't been working alot of miles in them so far. His back heels
are still rather under-run, but I keep his toes short and square. He is
not sore.
I would love to get some feedback as to how I could handle this; stop using
the EB and go barefoot behind for a while? Get shoes put on? Keep using
the EB and his heel structure will toughen?
I have a nasty feeling the problem is more likely the under-run heels than
the Easy-Boots!
Many thanks to those who wrote me in June when I was trying to fatten him
up. He has put on about 50 lb and added 7" to his loin circumference!
