Foundered horses can be fine...especially when immediate care is given. We
have a mare that had a 10% rotation in one leg, and 12% in the other, and
she's in better health now, than she was before. She's back on sweetfeed, but
is not allowed to have grass at all. Her feet are cared for regularly by a
farrier that has a lot of experience with founder.
As for what to watch for...make sure she's not stiff at all at a walk or when
turning. That's the first sign we saw. Check for heat in her feet, too.
