actually, that was either frank Smith's Little Buckaroo, or
JoDe Collins' McChesney (that's the blurry "mule about to eat
the camera" shot).

That's the rigging they use for a crupper. Is it because mule tails
are different to horse tails, so they can't use cruppers?

BTW, both Frank and JoDe rode the entire way in jeans. Go figure.
