Do a 50 when you finish a 25 and feel like, "I'm not ready to stop yet".
It may be after the 1st, and it may be after the 15th. Don't wait until
you feel like saying, "I could do that twice". That's not
necessary...just "I'm not quite ready to stop yet" will do.
My first ride was a 25 (because the horse I'd trained for 50 went lame),
then a friend's horse's rider was hurt at the 25 mile mark of the 50...I
wasn't ready to stop yet, so I went and rode it the last 25 miles...I did
my first 50 as a relay...all the horses were Apps.
