Re: Electrolytes
It's getting a little toasty here in AZ desert-it was 114 the other day-and I
was wondering if it was OK to give electrolytes free choice. My two have salt
block available and get vitamin/mineral supplement (Accel). When I put out
some electrolytes my boys ate it up even dry. I have since put some out mixed
in water and they ate that up, too. My question is whether it is OK to offer
this free choice. It is my understanding that any not used is just excreted
and there should be no problem unless horse isn't drinking but.... What would
be better-dry or mixed with water?
I had already planned to do some reteaching involving getting pasted with
electrolytes as my endurance mount will pout when he gets pasted with ANYthing
so now seems to be the time to start if it is OK.
Melanie in AZ It's a dry heat but so is my oven and I cook in that!
