I hose them off with cold water or throw them in the washing machine with
hot water. I don't use detergents at all.
They never get to be pristine white again, but I have yet to meet a horse
that cared what color the saddle blanket was :).
If I need a pristine white saddle blanket for a show, I go buy one. I
don't show enough that this is a major financial set back. Mostly I am
just trying to get the dirt and sweat out, and I have found that just
plain water is more than adequate for this.
