There are no saddle requirements in AERC.  However, I knew a guy who rode
bareback a lot...think about it, you could run your finger down his
horse's back and right where his seat bones were the horse was really
sore.  I thought a woman's "rounder" rear might be easier on their back,
but lately I've noticed that the seat of my Express has 2 hollow
indentions where my seat bones connect the saddle.  Told Bill that if
Archaeologists ever dig up my bones, they'll think my seat bones were
used as a mortar and pestle!

We do have Becky & Comet in the SE.  Becky is a smallish woman who rides
Comet (slightly bigger than a Shetland) with a bareback pad and no
stirrups in the 25's.  She told me she has horses at home, "But they're
just not endurance types".  :-)
