Re: Barn sour horse
I really appreciated this post. I have a mare who has been a broodmare
most of her life, (it's Emagination, Linda Fisher), and she is VERY
herd-bound. I like to ride her, because she has such smooth gaits, but
getting her away from the barn is a hassle. I've wanted to condition
her for endurance, just to see what she could do, and for her general
fitness. This tip could make it enjoyable!
I would think this would also be good training for those horses that
throw a fit when their buddies leave them, or any horse passes them on
the trail. If it works, it is a lot better than fighting your buddy for
the next 20 miles over how fast you are going.
