You asked for anecdotal feedback, however, an excellent reference is the
book "An Anatomy of Riding" by two German physicians (father and son)
named Schusdziarra.
They reference the writing of Mussler and other teachers of classical
riding and then explain where the muscles are and how to use them to
achieve the results.
