Re: Klickitat Ride Incident
I am really sorry to hear that this person was left alone and passed by
as riders too concerned with their own "winning" status could be
concerned for a fellow rider. It is a shameful look at our attitudes in
this age of "me" that we have forgotten the ol' Golden Rule out
there......."Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Having
worked in various capacities in emergency medicine (LPN, EMT, and EMT-P)
the potential for this person to have had a serious and even
life-threatening head injury was more than substantial with the
mechanism of injury he sustained. I am appalled at the lack of care
and/or concern by fellow riders out there and pray that this incident
may never repeat itself again......for perhaps the next time it may be
one of those who rode past this person and did nothing to help him.
Hopefully this has been a hard lesson for all Riders to learn from along
with changing the attitude that "winning is everything".
