Re: Ford or Dodge

<< I'm not sure of the mileage comparison, but the Toomey's Dodge only gets 10
miles to the gallon when pulling their huge living quarters horse trailer. I
get 7.9 mpg with my 29 ft. motorhome with the 460 gas engine. Not much
savings in mileage when you are towing big loads anyway. You substitute
mileage for the power..... I'm sure the power stroke is only a couple mpg off
the cummins, but there again, you're talking about a 6 cylinder verses an 8.

Lud says we get 13 mpg pulling our 20' trailer. The truck weighs about 7,000#
with its heavy diamond plate flatbed, toolboxes filled with fire tools,
chainsaw, assorted chains, winch, etc. Lud estimates the trailer at about
8,000# with three horses, horses, tack, 45 gallons of water . . . He likes
the six cylinder engine (not too noisy, he says) and I've never seen it at a
loss for the necessay power to do anything he asks of it.
