Well put.  I have seen completely unfit horses standing in the pasture with
resting rates of 24, and extremely fit horses with resting rates of 40-44.
Once you get down to a clinically normal range, how much lower you go is moot.
Better to stress the horses sufficiently to see at least some change in other
parameters as well.
