Wahsoe Virus, the saga continues
Thanks to all of you who have sent information and assistance with this. As of today both horses seem to be getting over this after 2 plus weeks, however I am still a little concerned that it has not all subsided. My 5 YO who was the worse with the cough/.snotty nose/fever developed a swollen node under his jaw. Today I noticed it is larger and sore to the touch although he has no fever or other symptoms and is eating well.
The fever has been mostly normal since past Sunday although on Monday the 13 yo suddenly had a temp of 103.6 so I gave him Banamin. He has never had any other symptoms besides the fever. Last night ( Tues) his temp was 102.6 although normal the rest of the day. This am both have 98.6. The 5yo has remained a normal temp, however with the swoolen node under his jaw getting worse I'm concerned that I haven't seen the last of this. The node is hard and not soft or pusey feeling but obvious and sore to the touch.
The last blood test came back confirming a virus with secondary bacterial infection in the 5 YO, that was last Thursday. I have never vaccinated any of the horses against Strangle.
