The Coggins test is a test for equine infectious anemia and is named for Dr.
Coggins who originally developed the test. The Coggins test itself is not a
health certificate, but in most states (or to cross the US/Canadian border),
it is required that the horse have a negative Coggins test before a health
certificate can be written.
