The last nail behind the centerline acts as a limit to the hoof's expansion
and contraction. It CAN make a horse very sore. If in doubt, pull those
nails only & see if he improves in 3 to 4 days.
When we need added stability, we prefer side clips rather than a fopurth nail
on each quarter.
