Shoes Absorbing Shock
Greg,
I recently attended a lecture (at Equine Affaire) where the farrier said
that he uses only mild steel shoes, rather than drop forge steel, because
mild steel absorbs more shock, though they do wear out faster in heavy use.
To get an answer to your question, you might try the online Farrier &
Hoofcare Resource Center (www.horseshoes.com). Look at the Farriers
Helping Horse Owners bulletin boards under Horse Owners Resources.
Good luck.
