Yes, lactic acidosis occurs in horses, but it is rare in endurance horses,
since the majority of endurance riding is done aerobically. In fact,
endurance horses are most likely to become somewhat alkalotic, both from
electrolyte losses and from increased respiratory rates to help dissipate body
heat.
