Volunteering at rides

Hello all, I will be volunteering at my first ride.  This is the Gambler's Special this weekend in Jean, NV.  I look forward to meeting everyone from ridecamp that will be at the ride.  Since this is my introduction to endurance rides I want to be as helpful as possible and not get in anybody's way.  Do any of you have advice for me?  I would like to come prepared in both what I wear (should I dress as I do for a recreational ride, boots and jeans, or should I wear more comfortable shoes and clothes such as sneakers and sweats?)  and what I bring (I will be bringing a pen/pencil and stethoscope anything else?) so if any other people who have volunteered or riders who have advice for a new volunteer can share their tips with me I would greatly appreciate it.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the ride (and eventually riding myself someday!)
