Temple Grandin
I second Dr. Newell's comments. I've
known Temple for a long time via the
Animal science meetings. She is autistic, and
truly inspiring. Her work with animal
handling facillities has revolutionized
the care of food animals and in some places,
horses. I, too, will go to hear her talks
at every chance. There was a great write up on her
in the New York Times a while back and she has
written several books, both on her experience
with autism (fascinating and moving reading, especially
if you know other autistic people) and on animal
handling.
