One of the first lessons I learned in endurance is that the more I
thought another competitor looked too old and decrepit to be any real
competition, the more likely they were to run my uppity ignorant behind
right down into the ground. So I changed my strategy and decided I was
only going to mentally blow off young'uns. I think that was the ride
that Jeff and Chris Wall's kids, Breann Larimar and Vicki Greene's
daughter all rode me into the ground. Then I decided it wasn't age, it
was short little sawed off people and ponies that I could afford to be
complacent about. I believe that was the ride Janey Sheppard and Meggie
rode me into the ground. Now I'm just happy to survive a ride just
without any truly public humilations and console myself that I'm at
least 25% sure that I might be able to run away from the average
schnauzer.
