corn question

    Thought I'd throw around this question.  Sure some of us have
problems with corns on our horses feet.  My shoer's response was always,
"that it is caused by the horse's conformation"  
  Wonder if anyone knows what causes repeat  or chronic corns??? To what
degree do they effect a horse's performance and any cures for corns.
