Hi Tracy,
Traditionally, the mare is TB. The US cavalry remount started this Anglo
thing. They were trying to improve the cavalry mounts with the best
blood possible. The Arabians were out performing the TB's in the
endurance tests back in 1919-1921 so they used the Arab stallions to
upgrade their stock. There were too few Arabians then, so they did the
next best thing and produced the part breds.
