Re: going up hills
Hmmm, maybe I'm confused but steep hills are *exactly* where
I get off and tail/lead. The only time I chose not to was at
the OD where I misjudged the grade, got partway down,
decided I should get off and then realized there literally
was not enough room for me to get off :-0.
I guess I could have slid down over his neck/ears :-)
Anyway, on uphills when in doubt I get off - if not then I
adopt a 3-point stance - slightly out of the saddle, hand on
mane, seat just grazing the saddle, legs still directly
underneath me. Leg placement (yours) is pretty important to
how balanced you feel to the horse - keeping them under you
is the goal whether up or down hill.
Of course, this is what I *think* I do :-))
