A horse working aerobically carries weight approximately 20 times more
efficiently than one working anaerobically--hence, a 20-pound difference to an
endurance horse is the equivalent to a 1-pound difference to a race horse, if
we can compare apples and oranges...  Doesn't entirely address your question,
but hope it adds a piece of information.
