Re: Horse chiropracters vs. accupressure?
I don't think is a 'vs' situation. Both of these modalities are very valuable
in maintaining a horse's comfort. There may be some soreness for a day after a
chiropractic adjustment and maybe also after a massage, but it's not serious.
Accupressure is not supposed to work the muscles at all, it's supposed to work
the energy pathways (that may or may not correspond to some of
the nerve pathways.) The muscles may relax as a result of accupressure but
the therapist doesn't actually massage the muscles unless they are also using
other forms of massage, which is very common and very useful. There are
benefits to chiropractic that can't be duplicated by massage and vice versa.
Both of these therapies are wonderful. -AMy
