Guns and Horses
While you can train your horses to accept the sound of gun fire
from their rider, I would not advise it. If you have to fire a
gun, you'll probably only get off one shot. A horse does not
anticipate the sound, and in most cases will freeze for a second
when the gun goes off. If you were to cock the gun (if necessary),
the horse might then anticipate the sound and shy.
From what I've seen at the desensetizing clinics, the gun shots don't
affect the horses as much as a bag of cans, a guy with a slicker,
or the dreaded "wall of death".
