In regards to Stephanie Winds story - those women of yor riding 
sidesaddle with the long skirts had it right.  You beat the sucker 
bloody with you riding whip.  Actually, I have used a whip to treaten 
dogs when chased.  Haven't had to use it on a person.  So add that to 
your ride equipment.  One riding whip with a nasty popper on the end. 
Carry for rapid deployment.
