Someone inquired about getting the necessary pharmaceuticals from one's vet to
dispatch a horse in an emergency.  The drugs used are controlled substances,
must go intravenously, and can be a real nightmare if not enough is
given--what do you do if you spill half of it and you don't have the bottle
handy to refill?  Have also been in situations with injured horses where it
was not safe for a human to get hands on the horse to administer drugs.  Even
with drugs in hand and skill to use them, there are times when a gun is the
preferable solution.
