mountain bike riding/AERC

Hi y'all.  I'm sure what I have to say has already been discussed and said but frankly my dears I have a delete key and I use it!  It was getting a little too repetitive for my itchy trigger (delete) fingers.

ANYWAY!  Since we are only (currently) a one horse family, the times that I have encouraged (forced) my husband out to ride with me have been on a mountain bike.  I found it's a GREAT way to have time together, have company, get trails measured (by the cyclometer) and get him (both James and Russ) in shape!  PLUS, it gets James used to being exposed to bikes.  In fact, he is quite competitive with it.  Treats it just like another horse he's running with.

ALSO!  I don't know when you all remember when you got into endurance riding...but since it hasn't been that long for me, I DO very vividly!  I knew it was what I wanted to do when I saw it (in a magazine ?) and before I even got my horse!  I didn't have much riding time (not MILES) in before I entered my first 25.  If I didn't "tag" along with someone I would have thought it would never end!  So in short, leave the LD to people who WANT to do LD, for whatever their purpose, unfortunately it's THEIR purpose.  But, I think you'll find people find that distance JUST FINE and an ENDURANCE distance!

This is propbably not in context with what AERC has just redefined...but I dont' care...it's an input anyway!

Hows that for tude!
