Proposed Mountain Quarry Trail
--
Rancho Occhialini
"Where the fat guy lumbers"
Yes, the proposed addition of mountain bikes to the Tevis trail was
defeated because of a well organized letter writing effort be the
equestrians in the area that use this trail. However, it would never
have been mobilized if Chuck Gabri had not been tireless in his attempts
to motivate the trail users to respond. It took a great deal of his
time and energy to prod people into giving the 10-15 minutes to write
and mail a letter to the appropriate parties. Thankfully, he persisted,
and as a result, the trail is safe for now. It is a great example of
the ability to make our voices heard. Until these letters started
appearing, the powers that be assumed there was no opposition to the
project. It's not a guarantee of success, but you never know until you
try. So next time you're on the trail from No Hands to Auburn, say a
thank you to Chuck Gabri.
