By itself, yes, but there is no ONE parameter to determine hydration, and one
looks at the general gist of SEVERAL parameters, including skin tenting, to
get an idea without doing bloodwork. One also looks at skin tenting relative
to body condition, etc., to determine how valid it is. That is part of the
art of being a ride vet.
