Not the best care, feeding, veterinary staff, nor even letting the horse sit
in pasture can prevent death.  We do need not to be so afraid of death.  It is
an inevitable part of life.

We do need to learn all we can about the best ways to condition and ride and
race our horses.  Studies and sharing that information are better ways to
improve performance and reduce injuries.  

The information that all was done correctly, or the errors made, most
definitely help our sport improve.
