Riders and Runners worked together!
Yesterday we had a massive trail clean-up at the Grasslands in Decatur,
Tx. Runners and riders worked together to pick up trash on 50 miles of
marked trails.
I have recently met a very interesting woman. Her name is Suzi Shearer
and she is reported to have run the most 100 mile races of any woman in
the world (26 races)! In fact, Suzi told me that when she didn't have a
horse in condition to do the Tevis, she ran it herself on foot! She has
recently moved to Texas and belongs to a running group. She offered to
get some of her members together to run our trails and pick up trash
along the way. We had previously had some rain and the trails were
muddy but the runners didn't seem to care. Some runners were assigned
to each of our four trails, followed by riders for safety.
This was a wonderful cooperative effort between the runners and riders,
and I wanted to publicly thank Suzi and her group of runners. This has
worked out so well for us and I'm sure the runners also enjoyed seeing
and running our trails which are new to them.
