Re: Endurance and CTR at same ride

UMECRA has always had all of its endurance rides at rides where there is
also the UMECRA version of CTR at the same ride. In fact there are UMECRA
rides that are only CTR but no endurance only.
UMECRA rides get their own insurance (not AERC's insurance) thus the
insurance objection doesn't hold water. The feeling in the Midwest is that
AERC has no jurisdiction over any event that has a max and minimum time.
The wording of the AERC bylaw change is ambiguous, but it will not change
the practice in the Midwest. Our ride managers know that without
competitive rides they would go broke. Many endurance riders also bring
extra horses and ride twice or three times in a weekend.

If you want to see the rides and distances ridden, and the size of the rides
look on the UMECRA website: http://www.bfm.org/umecra With the extra rides
a ride can have a positive cash flow with a dozen or so endurance riders.
