Forcing someone to choose between wearing a helmet or not competing, is still
forcing people who want to compete to comply in a world and sport where there
are too many rules.

I am over 18 and supposedly free so why can't I make my own choose as to the
risks I choose to accept. If we want regulate only participating in safe
sports we would eliminate all the fun.

I agree with Steve
I do not want to wear a helmet and never have and never needed to in 39 years
of riding horses.

So far, nobody HAS said that.  Some rides in our area have a rule that
you must wear a helmet to compete (insurance dictated).  Again, nobody
says you have to wear a helmet - you can choose not to participate if
you object to helmet use.  It is a decision that you have to make.

The feeling of wind through my hair, the freedom to ride unfettered -
precious.  Life as I know it is more precious.  After having 3 helmets
crack between 4 people inside of 5 years - I'm a believer.

Those who wear helemts usually have something to protect.  The
corollary.....?
